Checkpoints

In 2017 our checkpoints were:

  1. Spancky’s
  2. 8 Ball
  3. Redwood Café
  4. Mikes at the Crossroads
  5. the Flagship Taproom

and every checkpoint had the same kinds of games. Cotati historical trivia questions, and stupid human tricks were the way to earn your passport stickers on year one.

In 2018 we upped our game, and each checkpoint had its own games to offer. A different crew adopted each checkpoint, and bribery was highly encouraged. The second year our checkpoints were:

Checkpoint 1 – Tradewinds8210 Old Redwood Hwy, Cotati, CA 94931
Sonoma County Roller Derby
Always wanted to be a derby skater? Blindfolded team members will try to suit up in derby gear while their teammates direct them. No, that’s not a knee pad, that’s an elbow pad! This is your chance to get your derby on, minus the skates. You will be timed, so get ready to bring the high speed derby action.

Checkpoint 2 – the Jaded Toad500 E Cotati Ave, Cotati, CA 94931
Tarwater and the Rat Taxi
Tarwater Camp is bringing you a head on a platter ring toss challenge. The racers each must throw rings around a pair of Burner heads. The female head is Princess Glistening Equine. The male is Bernier Than Thou. Afterward, contestants must create and recite their own words to The Pledge Alliance To the Disunited State of California. Or Cotati, if they prefer.

Checkpoint 3 – the 8 Ball8 Charles St, Cotati, CA 94931
Camp “Oh, No You Didn’t!”
Try your hand at the naughty unicorn bead toss! Perform spectacular stupid human tricks! Shock and thrill us with possibly true stories that make us say “Oh, no you didn’t!” Confession is good for the soul.

Checkpoint 4 – Spancky’s8201 Old Redwood Hwy, Cotati, CA 94931
Reed Between the Lines
Mini escape room. Racers will stumble upon a campsite, but no campers. What happened to the campers? 10 minutes to solve. A few additional puzzles to manage multiple teams arriving at once. Bribes for hints accepted!

Checkpoint 5 – Flagship Taproom8099 La Plaza b, Cotati, CA 94931
All dogs go to heaven, where yes there is beer.
Teams will be given lyrics printed out from popular rap songs. You must read the lyrics in the style of Shakespeare, say them like a Pirate, or they can be barked like a dog.
